Not Formed in London in 1997, the Scoundrelles create melodic and expansive songs, often suggesting the abstractions of The Flaming Lips or Mercury Rev. Songs like Head On also display a propulsive, rocking chug reminiscent of Slade, although with more stellar lyrics. The insanely catchy Calling All Cars displays a pop heart worthy of the Beatles and Big Star. Their latest tunes, As Demons Go and Hard Workin' B7 Surface Receptor catch them at a disarming cross between the Monkees and Lee Hazlewood (on helium). The Scoundrelles comprise Tony Thewlis (Vocals & Guitar), Hugh Gulland (bass), Diggory Kenrick, (Vocals & Guitar) & Yan Quellien (Drums).
